About Us
SCPC Doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and support staff are committed to building better futures for our patients through the delivery of quality health care and education regardless of language, gender, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, physical and mental capacity, age, religion, housing status, and the ability to pay. Particular attention, however, is directed to reaching the low-income, uninsured, underinsured, Medicaid/Medicare, and vulnerable populations.
History
Established in 1992, South Central Primary Care, Inc. (SCPC) is a 501c3, non-profit network of twelve Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) serving the communities of Irwin, Ben Hill, Coffee, Berrien, Lowndes, Cook and Atkinson counties. SCPC is governed by a Board of Directors made up of local community members who are also active patients of the center. SCPC is a member of the Georgia Association for Primary Healthcare (GAPHC) and received the honor of Community Health Center of the Year in 2010.
The Bureau of Primary Health Care has deemed the Health Center – South Center Primary Care, Inc. to be an employee of the Federal Government for the purpose of Section 224(h). Any individual working for SCPC or contracted independently for primary care services is covered under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) for medical and surgical-related functions while acting within the scope of employment.
Our Mission
SCPC’s mission is to develop and maintain a healthcare delivery system relevant to the needs of the people in our region. We provide health maintenance through education, disease prevention, vaccination, screening, and treatment. Our services are delivered in a high-quality, caring, and efficient manner regardless of the ability to pay.
